As part of my M Ed (DI & KN) studies, I started blogging my learning over at CSU thinkspace in Reflections by Liz. I'm attempting to continue this as a way of reflecting on my teaching & library experiences. A uni & twitter friend suggeste d the #YourEdustory Challenge 2015 as a challenge for the teachers doing INF506 Social Networking for Information Professionals. It looked interesting so I'm attempting #YourEdustory in 2015. At this stage of 2015, I'm not sure where I'll be based, or if I'll be teaching or just in a library.
Theme: What is your "one word" that will inspire you in your classroom or school in 2015?
I'd like to think that my word for 2015 would be connections. I'd like to encourage my staff & students to connect with each other and the wider world. I saw a number of interesting resources on-line late last year that I'd like to use to allow students to make connections, not just with people but wider concepts as well. I was particularly interested by a number of geography concepts that came too late for my topics that I was sharing with my Year 8 geography class. I'd like students to consider the world beyond their brief neighbourhoods and local social networks. I'm not entirely sure how I'll be doing this, particularly as I'm waiting to see if I have a teaching contract or a librarian contract this year, or if I'll be relief teaching.
